KATADYN Rapidyn Venezuela Water Relief | Emergency Water Filtration Supports Nearly 2,000 People
In regions with unstable water supplies, what truly matters is not just delivering bottled water, but empowering communities to sustainably access potable water from local sources.
The Venezuelan humanitarian organization Fundana, in collaboration with Hope Medical, distributed over 170 KATADYN Rapidyn Filter Kits, supporting families, feeding centers, and public health facilities, providing immediate water treatment capabilities to nearly 2,000 people.

Original Case Information
From Childcare to Community Water
Fundana is a Venezuelan humanitarian non-profit organization renowned for providing shelter and assistance to abused children, and also promotes water projects in communities with limited access to safe drinking water.
Through local partner Hope Medical, Fundana distributed Rapidyn kits to families, feeding centers, and public health facilities. These locations require a stable water supply daily; a one-time water delivery only solves an immediate shortage. Reusable water filtration equipment is necessary to extend the effectiveness of aid.
Non-Electric Gravity-Fed Filtration Lowers Deployment Requirements
The Rapidyn is gravity-driven, not relying on electricity or chemicals. Manufacturer data indicates a flow rate of approximately 4 liters per hour, with the filter cartridge capable of treating up to approximately 20,000 liters. The 0.2-micron ceramic micro-pore filter cartridge can treat bacteria, protozoa, sediments, and larger particles.
In environments with power outages, limited equipment maintenance capabilities, or inadequate infrastructure, this design allows users to maintain system operation by cleaning the ceramic filter cartridge. It is not a one-time supply, but a tool that can remain on-site for continuous use.
KATADYN Taiwan's Understanding of the Case: The most crucial aspects of community-based emergency water supply are low energy dependence, ease of operation, and manageable consumables. The value of Rapidyn lies in advancing aid from "delivering drinking water" to "establishing continuous on-site filtration capabilities."
