In June 2024, humanitarian aid organizations deployed 4 SPECTRA Aquifer 4000 units to establish mobile drinking water supplies for nearly 400 families. Each unit can produce up to approximately 16,000 liters of drinking water per day.
Original Case Information
The Challenge
The original manufacturer's case study indicated that the conflict has made access to drinking water and the entry of aid supplies more difficult. Not only is there a lack of clean drinking water, but also a lack of stable electricity, transportation, and fixed water treatment facilities.
Therefore, the equipment must be high-output, portable, have controllable power requirements, and be capable of treating water sources of varying salinity to quickly establish supply when infrastructure is insufficient.
The Solution
A single Aquifer 4000 unit can produce up to approximately 16 cubic meters, or about 16,000 liters, of drinking water per day. The system can treat fresh, brackish, and seawater, allowing for configuration based on available raw water conditions at the site.
The equipment features a modular design that can be carried by two people and can be powered by a small generator of approximately 3.5 kW. Compared to the continuous transport of bottled water, on-site water production allows for transport capacity to be concentrated on initial equipment, fuel, consumables, and distribution facilities, with continued production using local water sources thereafter.
