SPECTRA approached this problem not by simply making the equipment larger, but by re-thinking whether the existing pressure within the reverse osmosis system could be reused.

Clark Pump: Reclaiming and reusing pressure

After reverse osmosis treatment, the concentrated brine still retains pressure before leaving the system. Clark Pump's energy recovery technology redirects this pressure back into the system, reducing the load required for active pressurization.

While this design doesn't change the fundamental principle of reverse osmosis, it alters the operational conditions for small-scale water production equipment. When the same amount of electricity can be used more efficiently, water production systems can be better integrated with marine batteries, solar power, small generators, and mobile power configurations.
